Tori Spellinghad to confront one of her biggest fears when she said yes to appearing onTheMasked Singer— which is why she initially turned the singing competition down.

“I honestly said no three times,” the star, who wasunveiled as the celebrity behind the show’s unicorn, toldEntertainment Tonight. So why did she change her mind? It had to do with her five young children.

“I was like, ‘OK, why am I saying no? It’s two of my biggest fears: performing and singing. I’m saying no immediately.’ Yet I’m raising five children who I’m telling them, ‘You can be anything you want to be. You can do anything!’ And here I am already just shutting things down,” said the actress, 45. “So I’m just like, ‘OK, I guess I have to do this!”

After being unmasked, Spelling, who hosted a unicorn-themed birthday for her daughter Stella in July 2017, opened up about the “life changing experience” on social media.

“I have 5 unicorn babies that I just showed that facing your biggest fears can sometimes lead to the ultimate state of empowerment!” she wrote alongside a series of behind-the-scenes images — including one of the star taking a selfie while in costume.

“Liam, Stella, Hattie, Finn, and Beau you can be anything you want to be! I did this all for you and gained my sparkle back thru the process,” she continued. “Thank you @maskedsingerfox for one of the best experiences of my life!”

Spelling’s husband also congratulated his wife for overcoming her fears — and kicking “some a–” in the process.

“So proud of my Unicorn @torispelling,” he gushed. “She overcame her fears of singing and live performances and kicked some a– on the @maskedsingerfox.”
