For most urbanites , it ’s hard to see the forest as anything other than a tangle of dirt , bugs and mess . But where we see reverence , creative person and sculptor Spencer Byles sees a canvas . Indeed , Byles drop a twelvemonth in three unmanaged French forests , where he utilized only natural and local materials to create awe-inspiring works of art amid the hold out landscapes .

I respond in different ways to each localisation and worked on at least 20 sculpture at one time . I worked spontaneously without any drawings or planned design . ”

Paralleling his lack of revealing on his employment ’ strong-arm location , Byles is as o.k. with not divvy up his views on his art ’s signification . “ I opt not to share my thoughts in regards to what each carving represents to me . They do n’t have names either . It ’s up to the viewer consider what he or she might sense or see . ”
