Friends and family of a California woman whowent missing on Mount Baldyamid a strong weekend storm have hope that she is still alive.
Lifei Huang, 22, has been missing since Sunday after embarking on a solo hike at about 2 p.m. local time, theSan Bernardino County Sheriff’s Departmentsaid Wednesday.
The woman was reported missing around 11 p.m. after she had “not been heard from since about 4 p.m.,” the department added.

Li said Huang shared her plans to hike the mountain in a message she texted to a group of friends,CW affiliate KTLAreported. She sent a video to her boyfriend of herself approaching the parking lot at 2 p.m.
Huang also reportedly shared numerous videos on social media showing some of the adverse weather conditions she was hiking in. She stopped communicating about two hours later.
When Huang didn’t come home Sunday night, her friends were worried. Li said they attempted to reach the trailhead, but “couldn’t do anything” without “professional help,” according to KTLA.

San Bernardino County search and rescue crews started their search for Huang around 2:30 a.m. on Monday.
The missing woman’s friends were able to nail down one of her locations from early in the hike using a ping from the “Find My Location” app, but Li said, “That’s all we have.”
It was not out of the ordinary for Huang to go hiking alone, Li said, per KTLA. However, she does not believe her friend had gone on trails during “snowy weather or rain” before Sunday’s hike.
“We never blamed her for doing this,” Zhang added. “We don’t think that she wanted this to happen.”
