Sometimes , people do n’t get your joke — and that seems to have happen to Google today . Its joke Mic Drop characteristic in Gmail , which muted the conversation and institutionalise out a silly gif , seems to have caused more stresses than smile . Now , Google has backpedalled and scrapped the buffoonery .
Yesterday , Googleannounced its bogus new feature . It gave all 900 million Gmail users the alternative to “ station and Mic Drop , ” which included a gif of a minion dropping a mic in the answer and then mute the conversation in their inbox . The only problem was that the “ transport and Mic Drop ” button was placed justly next to the usual Send button .
Perhaps predictably , some user havegrumbledabout the fact they unwittingly pressed the unexampled button without gain it be . That means people have neglect content and send off out - of - character gifs . One person alsoclaims to have lost a job as a result of the prank , though hopefully that ’s also part of a more complex April Fools ’ daylight joke .

Apparently a bug also saw the gif being include in some regular response , too . It ’s all been enough for Google to pull the plug on the prank . In a affirmation , it explained :
Well , it looks like we prank ourselves this class . 😟 Due to a bug , the Mic Drop characteristic inadvertently caused more head ache than laugh . We ’re truly sorry . The characteristic has been turn off . If you are still seeing it , please recharge your Gmail page .
We ’ve said it before and we ’ll say it again : April Fools ’ Day suck .
