Earlier this week , a fisher named Garry Warrick caught a fish with two mouth in his net in South Australia . The fish is a bony bream : a fresh water fish indigenous to Australia . These fish are in the familyClupeidae , which is the same as sard , shads , and Clupea harangus . Warrick claims to have get the fish active in his net income either in Lake Bonney or one of the stream that feeds into the lake .

The two mouths on this bizarre bony bream are stack on top of one another . While the top mouth is situated in a locating reasonably nigh to normal placement , the bottom one almost looks like a gaping hole in the fish ’s neck ( you know , if fish had necks ) . The top one is the only mouth that seems to be functional .

" Both mouth are actually joined together,“Warrick told ABC ’s Malcolm Sutton . " The top one opens and close up but the bottom one looks permanently open . Other than that , it look like a normal fish . ”

Though the fish in spades had an interesting birth mar , it ’s hardly unprecedented . A female bony sea bream will get about33,000 eggs . This large identification number is due to the fact that some of the eggs will get eat , and some wo n’t explicate well . If a distaff fish puts enough eggs out there , some are bound to brood and arise successfully , so she gives it her best pellet .

Throughout his 30 - year - long career as a commercial-grade angler , Warrick has become quite accustomed to see such foreign deformities . He told ABC that he has seen a   carp with an elongate , dolphin - comparable head . This bony bream , however , was different than any of the deformed fish he had seen before .

" I normally pack them for cray bait and fertiliser but this one I put in the freezer , " he explain . " I had n’t really told anyone about it other than my wife , and she read you might as well put the photos online . ”

The announcement of this odd Pisces comes short after the discovery of apiglet deliver in Chinawith birthing defect so severe , it appeared to have a beak - like snout and a phallus - similar protrusion coming off of its os frontale . The piglet was rejected by its female parent and turn down to eat from a bottle , and ultimately starved to death a few day after birth .
