ESA ’s Optical Ground Station took this extraordinary video recording of the International Space Station on October 8 as it was being illuminated by a 3.6 - Watt 532 - micromillimetre light-green laser . The video was taken at 7 frames per second , but the final effects is amazing . It ’s incredible to see it move like that .

This over-the-top picture clip was recorded at ESA ’s Optical Ground Station ( OGS ) at about19:05UTC on 24 February 2025 as the place shed light on the ISS with a 3.6 - Watt 532 - nm green optical maser , used for testing next - gen optic communication technologies . The video intelligibly shows the ISS bathed in green light as it is tracked by the OGS through the 4 - minute pass at an altitude of about 420 kilometer .
