The D23 Expo , named after D23 Disney fan club — which itself is named after the year Walt Disney started the ship’s company — runs Friday , August 23 through Sunday , August 25 . It ’s essentially Comic - Con but for only Disney projects . There ’s a huge conventionalism floor fill with exhibit and vendors , tons of sole merchandise , as well as panels expect at the yesteryear , present , and future of Disney in all areas : from TV to movies , idea parkland and more .

The return of Toy Hunter

One of my pet shows of the retiring decade was Travel Channel ’s Toy Hunter . It was essentially American Pickers meets Pawn ace , but only with vintage toys , and if you are into that kind of affair , it was the good . It ’s been off the air since 2014 but at this year ’s D23 , host Jordan Hembrough , the Toy Hunter himself , is play it back . Hembrough has adapted the theme of geeking out over onetime , worthful , vintage toys and turned it into a plot show that he ’ll host at the convention , and it should be a flock of merriment .

Disney nostalgia

You ca n’t have a Disney formula without keep the things that devotee hump about Disney . And this year ’s D23 Expo will do just that , including panel on Aladdin , The Little Mermaid , Tarzan , Haunted Mansion , and more . There believably wo n’t be much news out of those panel , but it ’s always peculiar to foregather the masses behind your favorite piece of soda culture and revel in the joy they still provide .
