Director Bryan Singer ’s opening up about how he wants to handle his mutant prequel , X - man : First Class . And it sounds like there ’s a heavy focusing on the Professor Xavier and Magneto origin narration , but what about the other mutants ?
vocalist chatted with the LA Times about his next ten - Men project . The young mutant character are n’t the focus of the film , according to Singer :
“ Just doing youthful mutants is not enough . The story needs to be more than that . I sleep together the relationship between Magneto and Xavier , these two men who have diametrically opposite period of sight but still grapple to be friends — to a point . They are the ultimate frenemies . ”
Here ’s my issue with this idea — while I feel like Professor X and Magneto are mature for a picture detailing their friendship and eventual fall out , the past films have already hyped this backstory on all cylinders , and we screw more or less what happen . I ’m much more concerned in the journeying these younger mutants present , while trying to find a safe haven , and , of course , learning to make do with their different tycoon . As the X - Men movie series progressed , persona like Rogue fell to the roadside , and Cyclops and Jean ’s family relationship was never really explore . Ca n’t we have something new , please ? Plus the original Jeff Parker comics are more of a number - of - eld story for the young X - man .
