Yes , indeed : The “ 1984 ” commercial message that introduced the Macintosh aired 30 Super Bowls ago last week . And the world-wide consensus is that Apple might run another ad today .
Why is this such a definite hypothesis ? Well , for one , Lee Clow , the originative conductor at Chiat Day who created the original “ 1984 ” ad , tweeted this two weeks ago :

Even I do n’t need a vindicated limning between words to reckon out what he ’s judge to say here .

But it ’s also because Apple has been pull in areally big dealabout the30th day of remembrance of the Mac . For good reason , of row — arecent earning reportshowed that Apple sold 20 pct more Macs in 2013 than they did in 2012 . Mac is back ! ( And you could even get one that wait like a dark trash can now ! ) But there ’s also a nice subtext here : The Mac was Steve Jobs ’ baby , and it ’s a nice means to keep honour his bequest .

It was widely know that Jobs view “ 1984 ” to be one of his crowing achievements ( the follow up , “ Lemmings , ” was kind of a bust ) . He even produced a remastered version of the ad for the Mac ’s twentieth anniversary , with the heroine wearing an iPod , of course .

But on this occasion , to truly honor Jobs and his work on the Mac , Apple should make a blade new ad that ’s as ridiculously ambitious as he would have made .
Apple needs this . Their last big advertizing featuring the Sullen Male Youth was ahuge dud . They just have n’t been able to produce the same quality of commercials post - line . Remember the bombination that that original “ 1984 ” ad wasbigger than the Cartesian product itself ? Apple ’s receive unattackable product now — that they need is a little ad thaumaturgy to make everyone find featherbrained and warm about Mac .

Another update : Did we get punked ? Well … kinda . Sothey did free an ad , just not during the Super Bowl . A solemnisation of 30 years of Mac , all shoot on iPhones in a single twenty-four hour period . And directed by Ridley Scott ’s son , Jake Scott . Then what was Clow hint about ? Was it meant to be a Super Bowl commercial that did n’t make the cut for whatever intellect ? Did they decide purchasing time was n’t deserving their money after all ?
