APenn Stategraduate pupil and professor have built a system that transmits wireless data point at 1 Gbps over infrared light . And they think it can go even faster .
Just last calendar month , we saw Siemensget to 500Mbps streamingusing ashen LEDs , but this infrared answer works at doubly that speed :

Their setup sent data point across a elbow room by modulate a ray of infrared light that was focused on the roof and pick up the reflexion using a specially modified photodetector . The span says that their measurements show the system could support data rates “ well beyond ” the one Gbit per mo they are currently claim .
While there are some hurdles to overcome before opthalmic wireless web become tired , the prof who guided the project believe that if the technology stay to recrudesce at its current pace , we could see a practical app within three year . [ PSUviaTechnology Review ]
